The attack coincided with a power outage, which exacerbated the situation as Morrison and her team sought safety at a nearby police station.
While authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter, numerous social media users have hastily attributed responsibility to the NPP, positing that the attempted assassination may have been driven by political motives. Morrison’s choice to sever ties with the NPP in order to run for the Agona West seat as an independent candidate has significantly heightened tensions in the region.
Her exit from the party and subsequent independent campaign, perceived by many as a challenge to the NPP’s prospects in the constituency, has further fueled suspicions regarding potential party involvement.
