A Trustee of the National Cathedral, Dr. Joyce Aryee, has described as ridiculous, the assertion that workers involved in the National Cathedral project should stop receiving salaries.
According to her, the stalling of the project does not mean that the workers should not be paid.
She made this remark when she spoke to journalists on October 14, 2024.
“If the project is on hold it does not mean that people are not working to keep it. I won’t even comment on something as ridiculous as this,” she said in response to a question on why people are still being paid despite the halt of the project.
She also emphasised that even though the project is not ongoing due to financial constraints, it will definitely happen.
Dr Aryee said her confidence is in God and she is hopeful that the government can raise the money to build the cathedral.
“It is amazing that we behave as if even our own churches when we are expanding it takes time. You do small, you wait, you get small, then you do a bit. The fact that you have started a project, and you have not found the money yet doesn’t mean it will not come on. When you start a project and you are not getting money, it does not mean it should stop,” she added.
