Niger held the Black Stars to a frustrating draw on matchday two of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The Black Stars are now without a win in two games in the qualifying series following a 1-1 draw with Niger in Morocco.
Ghana took a first-half lead through Alidu Seidu’s thunderous effort as they ended the opening half in the lead.
Niger started the second half strongly, but Ghana took over control and began to create some decent opportunities.
Inaki Williams broke free through the left channel after receiving a pass from Salisu, but his left-foot effort was tipped away by the goalkeeper.
A few minutes later, Seidu found Kudus in the box with a cut-back cross, but the West Ham man could not connect as his shot got blocked.
After failing to convert two big chances, Niger turned the tie with a stoppage-time equalizer after Oumar Sako scored from a rebound following horrific defending by Ghana.
Ghana, who sit third in Group F, will now have to beat Sudan in their next game to boost their chances of qualifying for the AFCON in 2025. The fixture is slated for October 7, 2024.
