Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Abura Asebu-Kwamankese, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for its lack of progress in health infrastructure development.
In a debate on the Point of View on Channel One TV on Wednesday, he highlighted the NPP’s failure to complete any of the hospitals under its Agenda 111 initiative.
“In terms of health infrastructure, they (NPP) don’t come close. Not one of the Agenda 111 hospitals has been completed. The 40 hospitals he talked about are small hospitals comparable to polyclinics,” Kwakye Ofosu stated.
He contrasted this with the achievements of the previous NDC administration, noting that when President Mahama left office, 20 polyclinics had been worked on, over 1,200 Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds had been opened, and dozens of health centres had been established.
Kwakye Ofosu further emphasised the NDC’s accomplishments in regional healthcare facilities.
“We had regional hospitals opened. As we speak, they don’t have one regional hospital completed. Not one in their name,” he added.
