Alexander Djiku sees red as Fenerbahce triumph over Galatasaray –

Ghanaian defender, Alexander Djiku, experienced an untimely departure during Sunday’s match as Fenerbahce secured an away win over Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Black Stars’ centre-back was dismissed before the halftime whistle in the week 37 encounter at RAMS Park.

Djiku saw yellow twice and was sent off just 21 minutes into the crucial match by the central referee.

He received his first caution at the twelve-minute mark and was given a second warning in the 21st minute, which led to a red card.

Despite being reduced to ten men, Fenerbahce managed to claim a victory against Galatasaray.

Turkish international Caglar Söyüncü emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal in the 71st minute, helping Fenerbahce narrow the gap in the title chase.

With one game left in the season, they trail the league leaders Galatasaray by three points.

Djiku is set to miss his team’s final league match of the season against Istanbulspor next weekend.

The 29-year-old Ghanaian defender has been a key player this season, making 24 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig, contributing three goals and two assists.

His consistent performances have poised him for selection in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualification matches against Mali and the Central African Republic next month.
