I’m not acting illegally as Minister of Health designate

Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, the Minister of Health designate, has refuted claims of operating unlawfully within the Health Ministry amidst delays in his approval by Parliament.

Concerns regarding the legality of his involvement in the ministry’s affairs have been raised due to his pending parliamentary confirmation.

However, addressing the press in Accra, Dr. Okoe-Boye asserted his legitimacy, citing official documentation from the Presidency supporting his role.

Dr. Okoe-Boye emphasized that he, along with a select group of colleagues, had received letters from the Chief of Staff designating them as representatives of the President at some ministries to maintain continuity and prevent disruptions in crucial sectors such as healthcare.

“Because His Excellency the President doesn’t want the country to stall, [in a bid to prevent some] key sectors like health from suffering from lack of direction, some of us, let me be specific to myself, have received letters from the Chief of Staff making us representatives. I am the representative of His Excellency the President at the Ministry of Health.”
