Arsenal beat Luton Town 2-0 as Thomas Partey makes first start since August –

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey made his first start for Arsenal Football Club in the 2023-2024 season since August after recovering from a thigh injury.

Partey’s long awaited return to the starting role came in The Gunners 2-0 win over Luton Town in the English Premier League at the Emirates Stadium.

His presence was one of a handful of changes to the starting unit made by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta with Bukayo Saka absent in the lineup while Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson made surprise starts.

The Black Stars player played 67 minutes in the contest and was replaced by Declan Rice after completing 62 of 67 passes.

Partey made an interception and accurately delivered a pass on four attempts as he played the most minutes since returning from the thigh injury that sidelined him for four months and forced him to miss Ghana’s run at the 2023 AFCON.

Playing against Luton Town marked Partey’s seventh league appearance in the season in what has been another injury filled campaign for the former Atletico Madrid player.
