Ghanaian social media influencer, Kaly Jay also known in the Ghanaian entertainemnt industry as Gyaegyimii has fired some shots at Afua Asantewaa.
On December 24, 2023, Afua Asantewaa embarked on a task to set the record for the longest-singing marathon in the Guinness World Record.
Afua before starting her attempt made Ghanaians aware that she was about to make an attempt and needed their support.
The historic event took place in Akwaaba village, located in Accra, Ghana.
Vice President, Bawumia, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Kuami Eugene, Kwabena Kwabena, Lilwin, and Becca, among other personalities, went to support her.
When the internet sensation paid 750 dollars to the Guinness World Records to get her result as soon as possible, she via interviews made Ghanaians aware- Afua made Ghanaians aware of everything that went on behind the scenes.
Even though Afua had paid 750 dollars and was to be given her result within 5 working days, weeks passed and nobody knew if the Guinness World Record sing-a-thon attemptee was disqualified or not.
Yesterday, 23rd February 2023, the Guinness World Record via their official social media handles announced that Afua had been given her result togther with a refund of 750 cedis.
They wrote ‘Unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Record attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We have seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested a priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempt”.
Many Ghanaians have expressed disappointment in Afua Asantewaa and social media influencer, Kalyjay happens to be one of them.
Kalyjay does not understand why Afua would call for the support of Ghanaiuans, give them every updates, even those that were not relevant but hide the result from them.
According to him, had it not been the update from the Guinness World Record, no Ghanaian would have known the result of Afua Asantewaa.
