Controversial actress and comedienne, Afia Schwarzenegger has launched a scathing attack on the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu, NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Chairman Wontumi, and the traditional chiefs of the Ashanti Region.
This comes after Chairman Wontumi was freed by Otumfour and his traditional chiefs during a meeting chaired by the Bantahene over Wontumi’s public denigration against Otumfour.
Wontumi was finally freed after the Banatamahene among other traditional chiefs said he had done nothing wrong to be punished.
Reacting to this, Afia Schwar has labeled Otumfour Osei Tutu a senseless king who chooses politics over development in his region.
Afia Schwar claims that had it not been for her mother, she would not have stepped foot in the Ashanti Region again because she is embarrassed being an Ashanti.
She revealed that she has seized to being an Ashanti.
According to her, Kumasi is underdeveloped and they do not have any sensible leaders to speak sense to the government to develop Ashanti.
She dared Otumfour and other Ashatis to try her and they would not like the outcome if she got angry.
Chairman Wontumi was reported to have publicly denigrated the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu.
It was reported that Chairman Wontumi and an organizer for the Manhyia South Constituency had a disagreement during the NPP’s most recent Ashanti Regional Parliamentary Vetting.
The misunderstanding was witnessed by nearly 40 people including Otumfuo’s Brempon Nana Kwaku Duah who is Chief of Kokoso who was also inside the building as Chair of the Council of Elders of the party in the constituency.
Sources have it that Nana Kwaku Duah was the one who reported the issue to Samanhene Nana Osei Kwaku, who then forwarded the information to higher-ups in the Palace, resulting in Otumfuo’s order.
Independent investigations reveal that the miscommunication arose after Wontumi was approached by a Napo-aligned Manhyia South Constituency officer for refusing to provide any testimony regarding the significant contribution made by Manhyia South MP Matthew Opoku Prempeh to the NPP’s internal operations in the area.
Wontumi is said to have yelled in a Twi and English mix during the heated argument, which lasted for more than thirty minutes inside the vetting room, that “I have built my kingdom, I have my police and military, and I will speak my mind to Otumfuo if I disagree on an issue with him (Otumfuo)”, Nana Kwaku Dua, who was present quoted him and has been corroborated.
Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi reported to the Manyia Palace yesterday, after being summoned by Otumfour Osei Tutu.
Wontumi was accompanied by the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu; NPP National Chairman, Stephen Ntim and NPP General Secretary Justin Kondua Frimpong.
Per reports, the traditional chiefs said that Chairman Wontumi did nothing wrong and, hence, has been freed.
According to Oyerepa TV, Chairman Wontumi’s accusor, Kokosohene, was blamed for reporting political issues at the palace.
He was therefore advised by the traditional chiefs to abstain from party politics.
