Flying full-back joins Eagles

Crystal Palace have signed attacking full-back Daniel Munoz from Genk.

The Colombia international has scored seven goals and registered two assists so far this season, having netted eight last term.

The 27-year-old said: “It’s a pleasure for me to be here at such a big club as Crystal Palace.

“I’m very excited, very happy, and I can’t wait to be on the pitch.”

Chairman Steve Parish said the move will be “a huge boost to the squad for the remainder of the season and beyond”.

He added: “Daniel has experience at the highest level for club and country and he possesses an impressive record going forwards for a full-back.”

Ivory Coast striker Sebastien Haller believes Ivory Coast have given themselves a chance to recover from a dreadful fortnight and win the Africa Cup of Nations.

The host nation beat holders Senegal on penalties in the last 16 yesterday after equalising in the 86th minute of a 1-1 draw.

But having lost 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea, sneaked through in third place and sacked manager Jean-Louis Gasset during the group stage, success in the competition would be extraordinary.

Haller said: “The last days were tough for us.

“We have opened the door and given ourselves a chance. We can forget now about what happened in the group stage.”
