Ras Kuuku ‘exposes’ beef makers in the music industry

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall musician Ras Kuku has opened up about the high level at which industry mates in the Ghanaian music scene take a go at each other publicly.

Beef, as it has generally been termed in the public space, has been a constant happening between Ghanaian musicians who, on countless occasions, engage in either lyrical battles on their newly released songs or make their feelings known in social media posts.

This happening, according to many, is one of the reasons the Ghanaian music industry isn’t witnessing large growth compared to some other industries.

But Ras Kuku has a different view and claims in an interview that artists who claim to have issues with their colleagues have some personal motives or parochial concerns that could be driving such conflicts.

The Wo hitmaker stated emphatically in an interview on Cape Coast-based Property FM that artists who engage in beef with their colleague musicians harbour no animosity towards each other at all.

He further stated that the so-called ‘beef’ they engage each other in is often orchestrated for business reasons, citing instances where artists themselves admit to staging controversies for increased visibility and that doesn’t exclude himself.

“It’s all about love amongst the musicians because sometimes even those who are beefing say during interviews that it’s staged for trends,” he said

“So the fans should know that particular thing, but if you are an artiste and you have ill feelings about your colleagues, then it’s your own palava,” Ras Kuuku concluded.
