The latest Netflix original film ‘The Kitchen’ has an incredible soundtrack that will transport you to another world. One of the standout songs is ‘Odo Nwom’ by talented Ghanaian musicians Kofi Nti, Ofori Amponsah, and Barosky.
Set in a dystopian London, ‘The Kitchen’ paints a vivid picture of the stark divide between the rich and the poor. Within this harsh reality, the Kitchen stands as the last surviving community, serving as the backdrop for the story of Izi, portrayed by the talented Kano Robison from Netflix’s ‘Top Boy,’ and 12-year-old Benji, who are both orphaned and desperately searching for family.
Together, they navigate a challenging system, defying the odds to form a bond that will defy the dystopian world they live in. This gripping Sci-Fi film was released on January 19, 2024, and marks the directorial debut of British actor Daniel Kaluuya. Joining him in the director’s chair is Kibwe Tavares, creating a dynamic duo that brings their unique vision to life.
In an interview with Kibwe Tavares, he discussed the incorporation of varied musical genres, stating, “It’s definitely a sort of process of elimination and starting pretty broad, and we had to sort of build the soundscape the same we did the world – in a sense, we were still trying to push for, like, this idea of layers and this idea of colours and this idea of building what’s there. So then you’ll see, like, a mix of influences that we have, whether it’s garage, drum and bass, grime, and some more sort of classically composed things”
