Mozambique’s head coach, Chiquinho Conde, is determined to capitalize on the weaknesses of Jordan Ayew and Inaki Williams when his team takes on Ghana tonight.
Both Mozambique and Ghana currently have one point each, setting the stage for an intense Group B showdown in the 2023 AFCON on Monday, January 22, 2024.
The winner of this match will secure four points, potentially securing a spot in the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams. In a press conference before the game, Conde confidently stated that he and his technical team had thoroughly analyzed Ghana’s strengths and weaknesses.
He specifically highlighted Ayew and Williams as the players his team will strategically target to gain an advantage during the match.
He reportedly said, “Our observers and technical staff have already identified strengths and weaknesses in the Ghana team. We know their strength is in individual performances. Ayew and Williams have experience but they have weaknesses we can exploit to win.”
He added, “We will play at 200% to win this match. We know Ghana hasn’t won a match and understandably are somehow frustrated and don’t have peace of mind even though they have some quality. “They play with the motivation of the fans also. We will try to provoke them and approach the match as a final.”
Ghana to face Mozambique
The Black Stars are gearing up for a crucial showdown against Mozambique, as they desperately need a victory after failing to secure a win in their first two matches.
Ghana suffered a 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde in their opening game, followed by a 2-2 draw with Egypt.
To advance to the next round of the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, the Black Stars must triumph over the Mambas. Similarly, Mozambique also has a chance to progress with a win in Monday’s match.
Cape Verde has already emerged as the group winner, triumphing over both Ghana and Mozambique. Egypt currently holds the second spot with two points, while Ghana and Mozambique have one point each.
