The Deputy Director in Charge of Conduct and Disciplinary at the Directorate of Students Affairs at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Akwasi Acheampong Aning, has said that the university will not shield any student who violates the laws of the land.
Prof Acheampong Aning was speaking during an orientation session organised by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) for fresh students at the university. Prof. Aning took the opportunity to address the students directly, urging them to be law-abiding and refrain from engaging in activities contrary to established norms.
Specifically, Prof. Aning advised against involvement in gambling, drugs, alcoholism, and harassment, emphasising the need for students to strike a balance between enjoying their rights and fulfilling their responsibilities on campus.
“While you are here to enjoy your rights, exercise your responsibilities, I urge you not to engage in any form of gambling, drugs, alcoholism, and harassment,” Prof. Aning stressed.
In a complementary statement, the General Secretary for the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Baaba Mills Christabel, echoed the call for responsible behavior among the new students.
She urged them to exhibit good conduct while socialising on campus, reinforcing the importance of maintaining a positive environment conducive to learning and personal development.
