The young woman, identified only as SA by Indonesian media outlets, hails from the village of Jikotamo, South Halmahera, and was said to be in a long-term relationship with the groom. However, on August 29, on the day of their wedding, the man ran away, leaving her to explain to the guests that the wedding was off. This was apparently considered inconceivable by both families, as the wedding preparations had cost a small fortune, and the dowry had already been settled, so the groom\u2019s father stepped in and married SA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/photos\/464ps_nOflw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jeremy Wong Weddings\/Unsplash<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In a video that has been doing the rounds on Indonesian social media, the groom\u2019s and the bride\u2019s fathers can be seen taking part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.odditycentral.com\/news\/ex-girlfriends-crash-grooms-wedding-ceremony-to-destroy-him.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bizarre wedding ceremony<\/a>, only one of them is actually playing the groom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe guests had already arrived to attend the wedding. The man\u2019s family then informed us that their son was missing and couldn\u2019t be found,\u201d the bride\u2019s brother, Wisto Ahmad, <a href=\"https:\/\/jatim.tribunnews.com\/2023\/09\/04\/pengantin-pria-kabur-gadis-obi-akad-nikah-dengan-calon-mertua-keluarga-wanita-ngamuk-dipermalukan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">told reporters<\/a>, confirming that the eloped groom\u2019s father had married SA.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-79459 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/gp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/arranged-marriage.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"393\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo: ISTIMEWA\/TRIBUN SUMSEL<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Although the bride\u2019s family was apparently deeply humiliated by the groom\u2019s disappearance, the spending of approximately 25 million rupiah ($1,700) on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.odditycentral.com\/art\/talented-confectioner-creates-the-most-amazing-wedding-cakes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wedding preparations<\/a> was apparently their main concern.
