Jadon Sancho says he has been \u201ca scapegoat for a long time\u201d after Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag said he was dropped for Sunday\u2019s game at Arsenal because of poor training performance.<\/p>\n
The England forward did not travel to Emirates Stadium for the game,\u00a0which United lost 3-1.<\/p>\n
Ten Hag said Sancho had not reached the \u201clevel\u201d required to be included.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease don\u2019t believe everything you read,\u201d\u00a0Sancho wrote on social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself very well in training this week.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won\u2019t go into, I\u2019ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn\u2019t fair!\u201d<\/p>\n
Sancho, 23, moved to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund for \u00a373m in 2021.<\/p>\n
However, he has struggled for consistent form and has scored nine league goals and provided just six assists in his 58 appearances.<\/p>\n
Explaining his decision not to pick Sancho for his squad to travel to Arsenal, Ten Hag said: \u201cJadon, on his performances in training we did not select him.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game, he was not selected.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sancho insisted he would continue to fight for his place at the club, adding: \u201cAll I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.<\/p>\n
\u201cI respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and am grateful to do so, which I know every week is a challenge.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will continue to fight for this badge no matter what.\u201d<\/p>\n
In February,\u00a0Ten Hag spoke of his pride\u00a0in \u201cmagnificent\u201d Sancho after the winger made a goalscoring return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n
He had spent three months battling physical and mental issues, with Ten Hag at one point saying the England international was not fit enough to play.<\/p>\n
Sancho returned to action in the EFL Cup semi-final win against Nottingham Forest on 1 February and a week later sparked a comeback against Leeds in the Premier League, scoring the equaliser\u00a0in a 2-2 draw.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
