In an interactive session on AIT News, Dahiru said Tinubu told his ministers that they had been asked to fetch water from a dry well. He said Tinubu used this metaphor as a call for the ministers to make the best use of limited resources to fulfill their responsibilities.

According to Dahiru: “There was something Tinubu said that was quite profound when he told his ministers to prepare to fetch water from a dry well and that we are not going to borrow money. If you tie these two statements together it means we don’t have money now, but as ministers out of a country of 200 million people you are privileged to be among the 45 that were selected to exercise the delegated authority of Mr. President, however, it places a responsibility on you to use your head and character to squeeze water out of stone by fetching water from a dry well and that is actually the responsibility of the government.

Speaking further, Dahiru said “Tinubu was trying to tell them that you are in a position to perform magic and I will monitor you to ensure that you perform this magic and it is quite heartwarming that for now, we have a policy in place to halt borrowing. Anybody who tells you that the government must borrow as a matter of necessity is not being honest. Endless borrowing will result in endless sorrowing so this is a right step in the right direction”.

You can watch the video of the interview from 1:07:42

Content created and supplied by: Christar4 (via Opera
News )

    , . , .
