Jaydev and Sathi Ghosh started attracting the attention of their neighbors in North 24 Parganas when they started traveling around the state and flashing their brand-new Apple iPhone 14. The couple had been known to earn a meager monthly income and had often struggled financially in the past, so the drastic change didn\u2019t make any sense, especially since it had coincided with the mysterious disappearance of their 8-month-old son, something that Jaydev and Sathi didn\u2019t seem at all concerned with\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/photos\/1m0BBZpeSUs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Felix Fischer\/Unsplash<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The couple\u2019s neighbors notified the local authorities about the disappearance of their toddler after they couldn\u2019t get a straight answer from them about his sudden disappearance. During the police investigation that followed, the mother, Sathi, admitted to selling the 8-month-old boy to a woman so she and Jaydev could buy an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.odditycentral.com\/news\/iphone-14-scalpers-allegedly-forced-to-sell-phones-on-the-street-at-a-discount.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iPhone 14<\/a> and create Instagram reels while traveling around the state of Bengal together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter interrogation, the mother admitted to the crime and informed that she and her husband wanted to use the money to take trips across the state so that they could create content for Instagram reels,\u201d a police official told <a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/cities\/kolkata\/barrackpore-couple-sold-off-infant-son-to-buy-iphone-for-making-reels-2-held-8864209\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Indian Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-79237 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/gp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/baby-hands.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"563\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/photos\/5zp0jym2w9M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Aditya Romansa\/Unsplash<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>As if selling their toddler son wasn\u2019t bad enough, the young parents allegedly attempted to sell their 7-year-old daughter as well but were unsuccessful. The police were able to track down the 8-month-old toddler to the house of one Priyanka Ghosh, a resident of Khardah in the same district. She and the baby\u2019s parents have been charged with human trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>People have done some crazy things to get their hands on iPhones in the past.
