{"id":81348,"date":"2023-07-05T11:20:26","date_gmt":"2023-07-05T11:20:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/07\/05\/man-utd-move-right-step-for-my-career-says-mason-mount\/"},"modified":"2023-07-05T11:20:26","modified_gmt":"2023-07-05T11:20:26","slug":"man-utd-move-right-step-for-my-career-says-mason-mount","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/07\/05\/man-utd-move-right-step-for-my-career-says-mason-mount\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Utd move right step for my career, says Mason Mount"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/130286834_gettyimages-1246850704-696x392.jpg\"   alt=\"Mount joined Chelsea when he was six\" title=\"Mount joined Chelsea when he was six\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mount joined Chelsea when he was six<br \/>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mason Mount has told Chelsea fans a move to Manchester United is \u201cwhat\u2019s right for me at this moment in my career\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The England international addressed supporters in a social media video on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Mount has\u00a0agreed a transfer\u00a0to United on a five-year contract for a \u00a355m fee, plus \u00a35m in add-ons.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>The midfielder joined Chelsea at the age of six, and he realises some Blues fans will not be pleased with his move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve made the decision to leave Chelsea,\u201d the 24-year-old said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel you deserve more than a written statement so I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I have been for all of your support over the last 18 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know some of you won\u2019t be happy with my decision, but it\u2019s what\u2019s right for me at this moment in my career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mount also thanked Chelsea\u2019s academy, backroom staff, previous team-mates and the managers he worked under since making his senior debut \u2013 Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea rejected United\u2019s first three bids for Mount before an agreement was reached.<\/p>\n<p>He will be Erik ten Hag\u2019s first signing of the summer as the Dutch boss looks to strengthen his side following United\u2019s qualification for next season\u2019s Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>Mount, who has scored 33 goals in 195 appearances for Chelsea since making his debut in 2019, missed the end of the domestic season with injury as the Blues laboured to 12th place \u2013 their lowest Premier League finish for more than 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>Mount won the Champions League in 2021 with Chelsea and started during the side\u2019s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the final.
