He was 81.<\/p>\n<p>Citing a family member, his publicist confirmed the death to AFP but did not provide a cause. The singer\u2019s wife Jan Dance had earlier told entertainment outlet Variety that Crosby passed following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us. His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music,\u201d read his wife\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeace, love, and harmony to all who knew David and those he touched. And I am very serious about this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not something personal. It\u2019s about the life security and wellbeing of the entire South East.
