{"id":70936,"date":"2023-05-26T12:59:16","date_gmt":"2023-05-26T12:59:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/05\/26\/4-released-on-bail-over-vini-jnr-effigy\/"},"modified":"2023-05-26T12:59:16","modified_gmt":"2023-05-26T12:59:16","slug":"4-released-on-bail-over-vini-jnr-effigy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/05\/26\/4-released-on-bail-over-vini-jnr-effigy\/","title":{"rendered":"4 Released On Bail&#8230;Over Vini Jnr Effigy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Four men detained in Spain over a suspected hate crime in the hanging of an effigy from a bridge depicting Real Madrid forward Vinicius (Vini) Junior have been released on bail, a Madrid court said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The men, who are also being investigated for an offence against Vinicius\u2019 moral integrity, have been banned from approaching and communicating with the Madrid player pending further investigation, a court statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The inquiry was opened after an inflatable Black effigy dressed in the No. 20 jersey of Vinicius was hung from a bridge in front of Madrid\u2019s training ground before a Copa del Rey match against Atletico Madrid in January.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside it was a large red and white banner \u2014 the colours of Atletico \u2014 that read \u201cMadrid hates Real.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Three of the arrested men were members of \u201ca radical group of fans of a Madrid club\u201d who were previously flagged during matches as \u201chigh risk,\u201d according to police.<\/p>\n<p>All four individuals will not be allowed within 1,000 metres of the Bernabeu and Civitas Metropolitano stadiums, nor any LaLiga stadium during football matches.<\/p>\n<p>Vinicius was again subjected to racist abuse on Sunday during Madrid\u2019s LaLiga match away to Valencia that led to the game being briefly paused, as well as sparking a global outcry of support for the forward.<\/p>\n<p>After the match, he hit out at Spain and LaLiga for not doing enough to fight racism, which drew a reply on Twitter from LaLiga president Javier Tebas who disagreed.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Tebas apologised for his remarks, telling ESPN Brasil that his message was misinterpreted.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- AI CONTENT END 2 -->\n\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 Four men detained in Spain over a suspected hate crime in the hanging of an effigy from a bridge depicting Real Madrid forward Vinicius (Vini) Junior have been released on bail, a Madrid court said yesterday.
