{"id":59430,"date":"2023-04-19T17:43:31","date_gmt":"2023-04-19T17:43:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/04\/19\/ecg-disconnects-mfantsiman-girls-secondary-school-others-over-unpaid-debt\/"},"modified":"2023-04-19T17:43:31","modified_gmt":"2023-04-19T17:43:31","slug":"ecg-disconnects-mfantsiman-girls-secondary-school-others-over-unpaid-debt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/04\/19\/ecg-disconnects-mfantsiman-girls-secondary-school-others-over-unpaid-debt\/","title":{"rendered":"ECG disconnects Mfantsiman Girls&#8217; Secondary School, others over unpaid debt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Central Region as part of recouping monies owed by customers have disconnected the administration block and master\u2019s bungalows of the Mfantsiman Girls\u2019 Secondary School in Saltpond for owing an amount of GH\u00a2316,160.<\/p>\n<p>The administration and master\u2019s bungalow of the Biriwa Secondary Technical School were also not spared as they were disconnected for failing to pay an amount of GH\u00a2112,300.<\/p>\n<p>The Mfantsiman Municipal Assembly however managed to pay GH\u00a220,000 out of a total amount of t GH\u00a226,000 owed the power distribution company.<\/p>\n<p>Some shops in the Saltpond market were also disconnected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe went to the Biriwa Secondary Technical School, some of the master\u2019s bungalows were owing so much. So we had to discount the master\u2019s bungalows that were owing us. Those that we spared were those who were able to pay their bills in full. From there, we moved to the Mfantsman District Assembly. They were also owing us around\u00a0 GH\u00a226,000 as of February 2023. They have paid GH\u00a220,000 today April 19, and the rest of the six thousand, they are going to pay before Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-933053\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/ECG-FANTI-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>He added \u201cFrom there, we went to Mfantsiman Girls\u2019 Secondary School. The master\u2019s bungalow was also owing, so we had to disconnect the master\u2019s bungalow and ended up disconnecting the administration block of the Mfantsiman Girls\u2019 Secondary. But then we are back here to the Saltpond township, market square. Most of the stores were owing, so we took them off. And we made sure that they paid in full before we reconnected them\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-933054\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/ECG-FANTI-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-933057\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/ECG-FANTI-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>According to Simon Kpabitey, the Regional Commercial Manager for the power distribution company, they have been able to mobilize GH\u00a264 million out of a total amount of GH\u00a2260 million owed by customers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-933055\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/ECG-FANTI-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>He added that the exercise is aimed at recouping 50% of the total amount owed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-933058\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/ECG-FANTI-5-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\"  \/> <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-933059\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/ECG-FANTI.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the exercise\u2019s first four weeks, we were able to mobilise GH\u00a264 million which is very encouraging. Prior to that, our monthly revenue ran into eight to forty million every month. So if we are able to mobilise GH\u00a264 million within the first four weeks, it\u2019s very encouraging.
