North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has predicted a landslide victory for John Mahama in his bid to be reelected as the NDC\u2019s 2024 flagbearer.<\/p>\n

According to him, the former President will carry the day by an estimated 95% of the total id votes cast.<\/p>\n

This was contained in a list of predictions which the lawmaker outlined on his Facebook wall at the start of the new year on January 1, 2023.<\/p>\n

Touching on the party\u2019s primaries, he expressed optimism in Mahama\u2019s ability to emerge victorious.<\/p>\n

\u201cFormer President John Mahama will emerge victorious from the 2023 NDC Flagbearer Primaries with more than 95% of id votes cast\u201d, he noted in the first paragraph of his 2023 forecasts.<\/p>\n

Mr. Ablakwa added, \u201cFormer President John Mahama expected to retain Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang as his Running Mate for the 2024 presidential election\u201d.<\/p>\n

Away from the NDC primaries, he also forecasted that the contractors of the controversial National Cathedral will abandon their interest in the project which has been a source of nationwide agitations.<\/p>\n

He also indicated that, the country\u2019s economic woes will see a further deterioration which will enhance agitations from citizens.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile currently within the NDC, former President John Dramani Mahama is lacing his boots to lead the National Democratic Congress to capture power from the NPP in the 2024 polls.<\/p>\n

Even though he has not formally declared his intentions to lead the party, there have been many credible suggestions to that effect; including an overwhelming majority of NDC MPs who have repeatedly affirmed that they will rally behind the former president.<\/p>\n

Mr Ablakwa\u2019s predictions ties into the support Mahama has courted even though he is yet to officially comment on his intentions for the future.<\/p>\n

Yet amidst the growing patronage of Mahama\u2019s candidatiure, some persons in the NDC are of the view that, the NDC\u2019s chances of winning the 2024 elections will be more realistic with the emergence of a new candidate other than John Mahama.<\/p>\n

According to these dissenters, Mahama\u2019s appeal has dwindled amongst Ghanaians due to the many scandals that rocked his government between 2012 and 2016 when he was voted out of power.<\/p>\n

They therefore want a new face to shoulder the responsibility of the party\u2019s flagbearership going into the 2024 general election.<\/p>\n

In line with these calls, former mayor for Kumasi, Mr Kojo Bonsu and former Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffuor are currently warmimg up to unseat John Mahama.<\/p>\n

But the chances of these two men have been dismissed by many party supporters and some analysts who say that, both gentlemen do not have the wherewithal to deflate the clout and appeal of John Mahama in the party.<\/p>\n

Rumors from close sources within the NDC however have it that, the party\u2019s presidential primaries will be organized in March this year to allow the NDC ample time to campaign and prepare for the 2024 contest.<\/p>\n
