{"id":56217,"date":"2023-04-08T21:08:31","date_gmt":"2023-04-08T21:08:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/04\/08\/sport-minister-reveals-target-for-black-stars-coach-chris-hughton\/"},"modified":"2023-04-08T21:08:31","modified_gmt":"2023-04-08T21:08:31","slug":"sport-minister-reveals-target-for-black-stars-coach-chris-hughton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/04\/08\/sport-minister-reveals-target-for-black-stars-coach-chris-hughton\/","title":{"rendered":"Sport Minister reveals target for Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"532\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/1680015453_368_Screenshot-2023-03-27-103432-696x532.png\"   alt=\"Chris Hughton\" title=\"Chris Hughton\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chris Hughton <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Youth and Sports Minister,\u00a0Mustapha Ussif, has revealed targets outlined for Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton.<\/p>\n<p>Hughton has signed a 21-month deal with the Ghana Football Association to become Black Stars coach, replacing Otto Addo who resigned after the World Cup in Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>The former Premier League manager\u00a0is off to a flying start to his reign as Ghana coach, winning one and drawing one in his first two games in charge against Angola in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers last month.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>At the launch of the 2023 Ramadan Cup on Thursday, Mustapha Ussif revealed the four main targets outlined in Hughton\u2019s contract.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Ghana FA has tasked Hughton to lead the Black Stars to qualify for the next African Cup of Nations in Cote d\u2019Ivoire.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Hughton has been mandated to identify talented players from the local leagues, qualify Ghana for the FIFA World Cup, and improve the country\u2019s Coca-Cola FIFA World ranking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe objectives are set by the FA for him to ensure that we qualify for AFCON and also to ensure that we identify local talents from our league. To also ensure that we qualify for the World Cup and also to make sure that our ranking in the FIFA Ranking improves.
