A mortified woman says she doesn\u2019t know what to do after inadvertently ruining her best friend\u2019s beautiful beachside\u00a0wedding,\u00a0but in her defence, she didn\u2019t even know her pal was getting married.<\/p>\n
According to this woman, her friend and her husband invited her and her husband to join them on\u00a0holiday,\u00a0when they\u2019d be staying on the picturesque South Padre Island off the southern coast of Texas.<\/p>\n
This invite also came with very specific instructions to wear the dress she\u2019d previously worn to an anniversary dinner, with the understanding that her friend was planning a special event.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old woman happily agreed, however, as she\u2019s recently given birth, she found the suggested \u201celegant black lace over nude dress\u201d to be just too form-fitting, and decided instead on a \u201ccute, semi-formal white lace dress\u201d. Little did she know that the planned event she was about to attend was in fact a surprise wedding.<\/p>\n
Taking to\u00a0Reddit,\u00a0the distraught new mum\u00a0recalled:\u00a0\u201cI arrived at the event and found out it was a surprise wedding where she only invited like 20 guests on the beach.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe hadn\u2019t told me it was her wedding because of an inside joke. (I kept telling them to get married and watch they will elope and the next thing we know they are married).j<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was horrified, and so was I. I didn\u2019t bring any other dress plus there was no time to change\/buy a new dress. Also, surprise! I\u2019m the maid of honour. I offered to either not be the maid of honour, or leave the wedding, but she rathered me not.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reaching out to fellow Reddit users for advice, the surprised maid of honour continued: \u201cLater she blamed me for ruining her wedding because I didn\u2019t follow her instructions to wear a specific\u00a0dress\u00a0and didn\u2019t tell her about changing my mind.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said I\u2019m sorry her wedding was ruined but it wasn\u2019t my fault and she should have told me it was her wedding, and at the time of packing, I didn\u2019t find it appropriate to get her approval on my outfit.\u201d<\/p>\n
One person commented: \u201cIt makes me sad that she thinks you \u2018ruined\u2019 the wedding because you wore white to a surprise. To me, a wedding is ruined if like the groom doesn\u2019t show up. You\u2019re not the a****** at all and if they\u2019re happily married, you didn\u2019t ruin a thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another agreed: \u201cA real friend would be like \u2018You remember that time you showed up to my surprise wedding wearing white!?\u2019 and we all have a laugh about it for years.\u201d<\/p>\n
