The introduction of competency based curriculum to replace the age-old 8-4-4 System that has been around since mid 80s has introduced new terms sending language scholars back to the drawing board.<\/p>\n
One of the most trending word currently is junior secondary school which stands for a school for children between grade seven and nine which will be Domiciled in primary schools contrary to earlier plans by the government.<\/p>\n
The English word junior secondary Doesn\u2019t have it\u2019s kiswahili meaning given that kiswahili is a growing language.<\/p>\n
Whenever a new word crops up, the language experts have to sit down and try to come up with an equient word. Many a times the English word is corrupted to come up with a Swahili word.<\/p>\n
Responding to star journalist mashirina Kapombe who asked the kiswahili word for junior secondary school during live broadcast on Friday evening, Kiswahili expert and poet Nuhu Bakari said the experts have already come up with the word.<\/p>\n

He said the meaning of JSS in kiswahili is \u201csecondari msingi\u201d giving two reasons for his Answer.<\/p>\n
One, the school will be domiciled in primary school and secondly, it is a key step in Joining a secondary school.<\/p>\n
