According to Pat Utomi, a leader of the Labour Party, godfatherism tainted Anambra politics up until Peter Obi became the state’s governor. Because of his experiences in Anambra State, he claimed that Peter Obi had what it takes to halt what he called a transactional administration if he wins the presidential election.

He claimed that Peter Obi has a transformational mind in the Channels Television report. Although he claims to be stingy, he asserted that Nigeria currently requires a stingy man to run the nation’s affairs.

He said – “If you look at his Anambra experience, let’s not forget that Peter Obi among the other things he has done is rebuild democracy. In Anambra they used to lock up their governors in the toilet and stuff like godfathers, schools were closed, everything was shut, and no pension benefits were being paid. When he (Peter Obi) came to that process, Anambra becomes a new kind of place. The pension was paid, and others.”

He added that the nation’s economy is being bled dry by those in charge and that Nigeria needs a leader who would stop this from happening.

He continued by saying – “So based on what I do know about him, he has a mindset for transformation. I believe there is a claim that he is frugal. My gosh, you only require a stingy man to lead the nation at this time. The guys are causing extensive damage. To put a halt to this madness and stop the bleeding, you need a guy.”
