Adomaa had been grappling with depression for a couple of years back despite her success in the music industry.<\/p>\n
At the early stage of her musical career, she found it increasingly difficult to manage her mental health and maintain a work-life balance.<\/p>\n
According to the Dede star, there was too much pressure for her to contain after she broke through to stardom status.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t prepared, at no point in my life did I think this was something I was going to do so it was suddenly thrown at me and there are all these demands, your life has to change from someone so low-key that I take \u201ctr\u0254tr\u0254\u201d now I can\u2019t take it anymore, it felt a lot.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the pedestal people have put on me and I didn\u2019t want to disappoint people or fail, all those were serious mental and emotional thermal.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI had suicidal thoughts. The funny thing is in that period, I\u2019d never been depressed before so I didn\u2019t know what to say, to say I am depressed I didn\u2019t know. All I knew was my energy was down, I wasn\u2019t eating and wanted to be alone and shut out of the world. For like two weeks, I hadn\u2019t left my room.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wanted to come out to say that I am done but my team at the time didn\u2019t let me do that,\u201d \u2013 Adomaa recounted in an interview on 3 TV<\/strong>.<\/p>\nAdomaa who underwent several rounds of therapy over a few years with the help of her therapist was able to identify the root causes of her depression and developed effective coping mechanisms.<\/p>\n
It was a challenging process that required a lot of introspection and hard work, but she persevered and learned to prioritise her mental health and make self-care a priority.<\/p>\n
Adomaa found that her creativity and passion for her work began to return as well and starred in the \u2018Dede movie series\u2019, in which her performances became more energetic and engaging.<\/p>\n
Her family, crew members, director, producer and fans noticed the change and responded with overwhelming support and love for her.<\/p>\n
Adomaa who is in a much better place mentally and emotionally is very excited and set to release her \u2018Becoming Adomaa EP<\/strong>\u2018 which will detail the struggles she went through in her private life and music.<\/p>\nShe is also more confident and happy than she has been in years. Adomaa has also been nominated in Best Female Vocal Performance<\/strong> category for this year\u2019s Vodafone Ghana Awards (VGMA).<\/p>\nHer story is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible and that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.<\/p>\n
