The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) National Taskforce has disconnected the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) from the national power grid for failure to settle over GH\u00a226 million debt.<\/p>\n
The amount is a summation of bills unpaid over several months.<\/p>\n
TOR paid about GH\u00a25 million last week but failed to settle the balance as scheduled.<\/p>\n
The taskforce took the entire facility off the national grid with notice to return when the oil refinery pays.<\/p>\n
Adi Steel Company, a steel manufacturing company also located in Tema, has been disconnected for owing GH\u00a26 million.<\/p>\n
The company defaulted on its bill, and the company has since been left without power.<\/p>\n
The Regional Maritime University at Nungua in Accra owes the power distributor GH\u00a2300,000.<\/p>\n
The university was disconnected in the afternoon of Thursday.<\/p>\n
Arvia water also owes ECG GH\u00a2332,000, and their fate hangs in the balance.<\/p>\n
The Accra International Conference Center has been commended by ECG\u2019s National Taskforce for prompt payments of bills.<\/p>\n
The Center, according to the Taskforce, had one of the worst debt records some 2 years ago, but this has changed for some time now.<\/p>\n
This follows the management of AICC\u2019s decision to settle its current debt of about GH\u00a2148,000.<\/p>\n
Some of the companies that owe ECG include Kasapreko Company limited, GH\u00a22.1 million, Arvia Water GH\u00a2320,000, and Best Western Plus Hotel, GH\u00a2335,000.<\/p>\n
Best Western Plus Hotel paid GH\u00a2160,000 when the task force arrived.<\/p>\n
Hillburi Hotel at Aburi was caught for an underground illegal connection.<\/p>\n

The facility has since been disconnected by the revenue protection taskforce of ECG.<\/p>\n
