{"id":49901,"date":"2023-03-27T11:44:58","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T11:44:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/27\/chinese-finance-minister-says-china-has-confidence-in-ghanas-economic-mgt\/"},"modified":"2023-03-27T11:44:58","modified_gmt":"2023-03-27T11:44:58","slug":"chinese-finance-minister-says-china-has-confidence-in-ghanas-economic-mgt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/27\/chinese-finance-minister-says-china-has-confidence-in-ghanas-economic-mgt\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese Finance Minister says China has confidence in Ghana&#8217;s economic mgt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"390\"  alt=\"\" title=\"China\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/China-696x390.png\" data- class=\"entry-thumb lazyload\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"390\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/China-696x390.png\"   alt=\"\" title=\"China\"\/><\/noscript><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">From left: Chairman Wu Fulin, China Eximbank, Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister of Finance, Ghana, Liu Kun, Minister of Finance China, Dr Winfred Hammond, Ghana\u2019s Ambassador to China<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>The Chinese Minister of Finance, Liu Kun, has said that his country has confidence in Ghana\u2019s economic management and its long-term economic viability.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was after Ghana\u2019s Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta highlighted how exogenous factors have negatively impacted Ghana\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ofori-Atta also mentioned the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme that has been introduced by the government as an indication that Ghana was ready to take the necessary action to readjust its fiscal path.<\/p>\n<p>In response, Mr Kun said as quoted by the state owned Graphic.com.gh, \u201cwe know that these are short-term challenges which we as responsible creditors remain committed to resolving\u201d and that \u201cthe long-standing and prosperous relationship between Ghana and China imposes on us, a responsibility to help\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese Finance Minister further said it was the hope of his country that Multilateral and Commercial creditors would also fully participate in the interest of burden sharing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChinese authorities have confidence in Ghana\u2019s economic management, and its long-term economic viability,\u201d Mr Kun said.<\/p>\n<p>He added \u201cChina believes in promoting debt sustainability and sustainable development,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said these when Mr Ofori-Atta, led a high-level delegation from the ministry to China to engage in bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart and other Chinese officials.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Ghana\u2019s Finance Ministry said that Mr Ken Ofori-Atta had<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> very positive and encouraging meetings in China.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">The Ministry said they were looking forward to securing external assurances very soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cSo far had very positive and encouraging meetings in China!
