The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Samuel Dubik Mahama has debunked reports that the Ministry of Energy was disconnected from the national grid for owing for power supplied.<\/p>\n
Mr. Mahama intimated that reports of the Ministry\u2019s disconnection are just examples of the few innuendos thrown into the media sphere in an attempt to distract the revenue mobilization drive of the power distribution company.<\/p>\n
Appearing on the Point of View <\/strong>on Citi TV<\/strong>, Mr. Mahama disclosed that government establishments owe 15 percent out of the GH\u00a25.7 billion it aims to recover within a month.<\/p>\n He emphatically disclosed that \u201cThe Ministry of Energy doesn\u2019t owe us and the Ministry is exclusively on prepaid meters and that is the case with most of the MMDAs and state-owned enterprises.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe are not going to favour anybody and our main debtors are industry, they are not doing what they are supposed to do, and they are pretending not to know that they owe us,\u201d Mr. Mahama further lamented.<\/p>\n The power distribution company is currently on the field trying to recover debts owed to it to enhance its operations.<\/p>\n Mr. Mahama also indicated that the company is laying the necessary processes in place to digitalize power vending to improve its revenue inflows and also eradicate the long queues at vending points.<\/p>\n \u201cHopefully, in the next month or two and with my digital process, queues will be a thing of the past because very soon consumers will be able to purchase ECG credit with their mobile devices with NFC connection.<\/p>\n \u201cVery soon there will be no queues, and we are going to be customer-driven and even now postpaid customers are able to sit in the comfort of their homes to pay their electricity bill.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n
