Emma Heming Willis, the wife of actor Bruce Willis, has spoken about the \u201cgrief and sadness\u201d she feels over her husband\u2019s dementia, as they celebrated his 68th birthday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have started the morning by crying, as you can see by my swollen eyes,\u201d\u00a0she said in an Instagram video.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important that you see all sides of this,\u201d she said, as she continues to raise awareness about his condition.<\/p>\n

Willis was\u00a0diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia\u00a0in February.<\/p>\n

This came after he was\u00a0diagnosed with aphasia,\u00a0which causes difficulties with speech, last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His family said last year that he was\u00a0giving up acting\u00a0as the condition was affecting his cognitive abilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The actor\u2019s dementia diagnosis affects language as well as behaviour and the ability to plan. There is no cure or intervention that can slow down the progress, so his symptoms will continue to worsen.<\/p>\n

In her post, Heming Willis addressed the loss she feels as she cares for her husband.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always get this message where people always tell me, \u2018Oh you\u2019re so strong. I don\u2019t know how you do it\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not given a choice. I wish I was but I\u2019m also raising two kids in this.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes in our lives, we have to put our big girl panties on and get to it, and that\u2019s what I\u2019m doing. But I do have times of sadness every day, grief every day and I\u2019m really feeling it today on his birthday.\u201d<\/p>\n

She is going public with her experiences, she said, as the \u201csilver lining or flip side\u201d is that she and the family are appreciative of the \u201cwarmth and love\u201d of fans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAs much as I do it for myself, I do it for you because I know how much you love my husband.\u201d<\/p>\n

In\u00a0another post\u00a0featuring footage of Willis playing with their children, she called her husband \u201cpure love\u201d.<\/p>\n

Willis\u2019s former wife, actress Demi Moore was also part of his birthday celebrations. She and Willis have three daughters together.<\/p>\n

She posted footage of him singing with his family as they wished him happy birthday and give him a birthday pie.<\/p>\n

He was seen smiling and joining in the celebrations, and stumbling slightly after blowing out his candles.<\/p>\n

Moore said: \u201cSo glad we could celebrate you today. Love you and love our family. Thank you to everyone for the love and warm wishes \u2013 we all feel them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Willis became a household name in the 1980s and 90s after starring in blockbuster films such as Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, Armageddon and Pulp Fiction, along with the hit TV series Moonlighting.<\/p>\n

He has also been nominated for five Golden Globes \u2013 winning one for Moonlighting \u2013 and three Emmys, where he won two.<\/p>\n
