{"id":46407,"date":"2023-03-20T13:14:18","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T13:14:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/20\/dont-delay-any-more-in-paying-our-coupons-pensioners-warn-govt-despite-receiving-payments\/"},"modified":"2023-03-20T13:14:18","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T13:14:18","slug":"dont-delay-any-more-in-paying-our-coupons-pensioners-warn-govt-despite-receiving-payments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/20\/dont-delay-any-more-in-paying-our-coupons-pensioners-warn-govt-despite-receiving-payments\/","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t delay any more in paying our coupons &#8211; Pensioners warn gov&#8217;t despite receiving payments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"348\"  alt=\"\" title=\"ofori-atta-pensioners-1140x570.webp\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/1679318058_199_ofori-atta-pensioners-1140x570-1.webp\" data- class=\"entry-thumb lazyload\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"348\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/1679318058_199_ofori-atta-pensioners-1140x570-1.webp\"   alt=\"\" title=\"ofori-atta-pensioners-1140x570.webp\"\/><\/noscript><\/div>\n<p><strong>The Pensioners Bondholders Forum has confirmed that members have been receiving payments on matured coupons and principals since Tuesday, March 14 as promised by the Ministry of Finance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span id=\"page34R_mcid12\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">We, however, wish to state that as much as we recognize the efforts of the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Government to pay all outstanding coupons and principals of the old bonds, we<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">reiterate that<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">p<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ensioners were exempted from the DDEP<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, and consequently must<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">always<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">be paid their coupo<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ns and principals on due dates<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">without delay<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, and in the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">same manner as was<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">done pri<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">or to the DDEP,\u201d the Forum said in a press release signed by Convener Dr Adu A. Antwi on Monday, March 20.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The pensioner bondholders had raised concerns after government missed payment on maturing bonds on Monday, March 13.<\/p>\n<p>The Finance Ministry admitted to the administrative lapses, promising to pay within 48 hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHolders of the afore-listed bonds should therefore expect to receive their payments within the next 48 hours,\u201d the Ministry promised.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Forum, though payments are being received as promised, it does not want the \u201canomalous situation\u201d to persist since their members opted out of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).<\/p>\n<p>If the situation persists, the pensioners threatened, \u201c<span id=\"page36R_mcid4\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">we shall be<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">left with<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">no other option than to explore<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">other means of getting resolution to the situation\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span id=\"page36R_mcid6\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">We are happy to engage<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">the Ministry<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">further, if required, but trust that this will not<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">be necessary.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kwame_amoh?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @kwame_amoh<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pensioners Bondholders Forum has confirmed that members have been receiving payments on matured coupons and principals since Tuesday, March 14 as promised by the Ministry of Finance. \u201cWe, however, wish to state that as much as we recognize the efforts of the Government to pay all outstanding coupons and principals of the old bonds, [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":17715,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[19],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-46407","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-business"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.2 -
