{"id":45969,"date":"2023-03-19T13:52:03","date_gmt":"2023-03-19T13:52:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/19\/npa-boss-elected-president-of-african-refiners-association\/"},"modified":"2023-03-19T13:52:03","modified_gmt":"2023-03-19T13:52:03","slug":"npa-boss-elected-president-of-african-refiners-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/19\/npa-boss-elected-president-of-african-refiners-association\/","title":{"rendered":"NPA boss elected President of African Refiners Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has been elected President of the African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) in Cape Town, South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Committee of the continental body approved the nomination last Sunday and the Annual General Meeting unanimously ratified the appointment on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time a Ghanaian is leading the association and also the first time a petroleum downstream regulator is leading the body.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-925424\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/hamid-award-e1679231958682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"566\" height=\"292\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>In submitting the nomination, Dr. Abdul-Hamid\u2019s sterling leadership and visible results in the Ghanaian petroleum downstream were considered.<\/p>\n<p>ARDA is an organization with its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, but its operational office is in Abidjan, Cote d\u2019Ivoire.<\/p>\n<p>The organization is made up of members who share a common interest in matters pertaining to the refining as well as storage, distribution and regulation of petroleum products in Africa, according to its constitution.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the association, Annibor Kragha, said Dr Abdul-Hamid\u2019s honesty and integrity in public life made him a suitable candidate for the top job.<\/p>\n<p>As President, Dr. Abdul-Hamid will be responsible for chairing and running the Annual General Meetings and the Executive Committee meetings.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-925442\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-03-19-at-9.31.46-AM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"608\" height=\"1080\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>In his inaugural speech, Dr. Abdul-Hamid promised to make the association more inclusive and attractive to increase membership in order to achieve the stated objectives.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Abdul-Hamid was decorated with a sash and presented with a Presidential staff as a symbol of authority<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has been elected President of the African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) in Cape Town, South Africa.
