Individual Bondholders Group made up of the Ghana Individual Bondholders\u2019 Forum and Individual Bond Holders Association of Ghana (IBHAG) is calling out the Securities and\u00a0 Exchange Commission (SEC) as well as the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) for the \u201cloud silence\u201d over the non-payment of matured coupons and principals by government.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Government had agreed, in the aftermath of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), to resume payment of coupons to holders who opted out of the Programme.<\/p>\n<p>But on Monday, March 13, the date slated for the payments, there was no show.<\/p>\n<p>The Coalition said the Ghana Fixed Income Market of GSE has failed to enforce basic rules of disclosure required by issuers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span id=\"page35R_mcid11\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The little confidence remaining in the markets as a result of assurances from the Ministry of Finance<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">is fading away under the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">full watch of the very institutions set up to protect it,\u201d the Coalition said in a statement on Tuesday, March 14.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It, therefore, gave the Finance Ministry a 48-hour ultimatum to pay all matured principals and outstanding coupons due existing bonds.<\/p>\n<p>The warning comes after pensioner bondholders also gave government same ultimatum.<\/p>\n<p>The Coalition has served notice that \u201cfight we will\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span id=\"page35R_mcid15\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">We are giving<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">a<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">48<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u2013<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">hour<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ultimatum<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">to the Ministry of Finance to honour its word to<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">pay all matured<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">principal and outstanding coupons due on the existing bonds issued by the Government of Ghana.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page35R_mcid16\" class=\"markedContent\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span id=\"page35R_mcid17\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">We call on the Securities and Exchange Commission and the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Ghana Stock Exchange to enforce the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">rules of full disclosure required by all issuers including the Go<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">vernment of<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">G<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">hana.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span id=\"page35R_mcid19\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">We will fight to ensure the full payment of our
