{"id":429,"date":"2023-01-02T14:28:23","date_gmt":"2023-01-02T14:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/01\/02\/lets-pay-taxes-to-develop-the-country\/"},"modified":"2023-01-02T14:28:23","modified_gmt":"2023-01-02T14:28:23","slug":"lets-pay-taxes-to-develop-the-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/01\/02\/lets-pay-taxes-to-develop-the-country\/","title":{"rendered":"Let&#8217;s pay taxes to develop the country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A former Minister of State, Joyce Aryee wants Ghanaians to pay their taxes in order for government to expedite development in the country.<\/p>\n<p>She believes the borrowing of funds for developing the nation is not the best.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPersonally, what I think government must champion is for us to tell the people that it is important to pay our taxes so that they will be used for our development. Nobody likes taxes, but they are necessary because development will not come about from borrowing but from raising the money from among ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, Madam Aryee said parliamentarians and officials in public office must support government\u2019s effort in ensuring that the public pay tax.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am trusting that, the parliamentarians will know that Ghana first before any party. Whichever side they belong to, it\u2019s Ghana first. We voted for them to serve us not in their interest. I pray that they will remember us those who voted and serve in our interest\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n<p>The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo once charged Ghanaians to rise up to the challenge and help develop Ghana through taxes.<\/p>\n<p>He believes more sacrifices need to be made to achieve the needed development stressing that the country can be developed by only Ghanaians.<\/p>\n<p>He described the \u201cpaying of taxes\u201d as a sacrifice necessary to confront the country\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of these are the sacrifices that are required for us to make it, and we have to be prepared to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo let us understand that we have to rise to the challenge and do it for ourselves,\u201d President Akufo-Addo advised.<\/p>\n<p>He added that it is even more untenable because the government is rather looking for more avenues to raise money.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>));\/**\/<\/script><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A former Minister of State, Joyce Aryee wants Ghanaians to pay their taxes in order for government to expedite development in the country.
