Rigathi <\/a>Gachagua might change his mind on plans to decongest Nairobi if he were to go and experience the situation on his own.<\/p>\nThis is according to Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi, who has thrown her support behind the plans to organise the city.<\/p>\n
This is, however, the opposite of Gachagua\u2019s stand, who holds that the planned remo of matatus will disadvantage operators and business owners.<\/p>\n
He has said that the government will prevent Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja from implementing the plans, assuring those set to be affected that they have the protection of the state.<\/p>\n
But Elachi says that he will change his mind if he gets to take a walk in the city and see just how disorganized and pathetic things are.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good to come and walk through the city first, try and walk down Accra Road and ask yourself if that how you want your city. Do you want a city where even a woman with a child cannot get somewhere to walk?\u201d she posed on K24 on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
She said that while Gachagua\u2019s concerns are real, something has to be done if soberness is to return to Nairobi, failure of which things can only worsen.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know that the businesses are there but we have to decongest Nairobi,\u201d the former Nairobi County Assembly Speaker added.<\/p>\n
But Gachagua has held that nothing will be done, with his allies complaining that Sakaja\u2019s plans will largely harm members of the Kikuyu community.<\/p>\n
He has held that the proposed changes can only be made after the inclusion of those set to be affected and has accused Sakaja of making hasty decisions. Earlier, he promised to sit Sakaja down on the matter.<\/p>\n
