Bruce Willis, 67, was publicly seen for the first time after his family\u00a0revealed he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.<\/p>\n

In photos and video\u00a0obtained by the Daily Mail, the \u201cDie Hard\u201d actor had a day out with two friends in Santa Monica, Calif. on Thursday.<\/p>\n

During the outing, the actor sported a grey beanie, blue sweatshirt and black pants, which he paired with a black watch.<\/p>\n

The \u201cSixth Sense\u201d star\u2019s day out comes two weeks after his family announced he had been diagnosed with the \u201ccruel disease,\u201d which can cause slowed movement, stiffness, balance problems and changes in behavior or language.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,\u201d his wife, Emma Heming, ex-wife Demi Moore and five daughters\u00a0said on the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration website\u00a0on Feb. 16.<\/p>\n

\u201cFTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more preent than we know,\u201d the family continued.<\/p>\n

While Willis\u2019 family said there are \u201cno treatments\u201d for the disease, they hope \u201cany media attention\u201d can shed light on the illness \u201cthat needs more awareness and research.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBruce has always found joy in life \u2014 and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n

Last March, the action star\u2019s family initially\u00a0announced that he had aphasia\u00a0\u2014 a medical condition that can affect a person\u2019s ability to speak, write and understand verbal and written language \u2014 and would be stepping away from acting.<\/p>\n

Since then, Willis\u2019 relatives have\u00a0given fans updates on his health. Most recently, Heming, 44, shared that she met with\u00a0dementia specialist Teepa Snow\u00a0to learn more about how to care for her husband.<\/p>\n
