Matungulu MP Stephen Mutinda Mule has dared the government to arrest him, claiming that the government has been threatening Members of Parliament who decide to speak the truth. The MP also lectured the government over the move to remove taxes on gas has he complained over the high cost of living in the country.<\/p>\n
In a video that is now doing rounds on social media platforms, Hon. Mule said that the government should stop playing mind games by removing all taxes on gas. He said that the government should instead remove all taxes on foods to reduce the high cost of living.<\/p>\n
\u201cMnasema mnatoa tax ya gas na Mimi nasema mnafaa kutoa tax yote Kwa chakula. Nasimama bila kuogopa chochote, Tunataka kusikia bei ya chakula imerudi chini. Acha kutupaka mafuta ati we are reducing the taxes, haiwezekani (You are saying that you are removing taxes on gas, but I say that you should remove all taxes on foods. I stand without any fear, we want to see that the prices of food have gone down),\u201d Hon. Mule said.<\/p>\n
The MP said that Kenya is a sovereign and a democratic country and so the government of the day should have the responsibility to take care of both those who voted and those who didn\u2019t vote for them.<\/p>\n
\u201cManeno ya kutuambia Kenya ni kampuni, tafathali tuheshimiane (The issue of telling us that Kenya is a , please let\u2019s have respect for each other). Kenya is a sovereign country and the we are democratic. So the government of the day, you have the responsibility to take care of those who voted and those who did not vote for you,\u201d the MP said.<\/p>\n
\u201cNasikia mnatishatisha wabunge, mkipenda Mnishike (I hear that you are threatening MPs, if you like you can arrest me),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
