Smartphone charging has become routine for the vast majority of people. But there are some huge mistakes you can make that are harmful and could potentially damage your phone while charging it. Some could potentially harm your health, while others could reduce the battery life of your phone.<\/p>\n

Here are eight common mistakes you need to avoid making while charging your phone:<\/p>\n

1. Don\u2019t forget to unplug your phone from its charger before turning in for the night.<\/p>\n

Most modern smartphone chargers have built-in circuits that turn off the current when the battery is fully charged. But if you are unsure whether or not your charger has this function, it is best to avoid leaving it plugged in overnight. Damage to the battery can result from overcharging.<\/p>\n

2. Some people have the bad habit of playing games on their smartphone while it\u2019s charging, which is not advised because heat is the battery\u2019s greatest enemy. When the phone is put through a strenuous task, such as playing a game, taking a lot of pictures, or using any other resource-intensive app, the processor becomes very hot. A combination of that extra heat and the heat produced during the battery\u2019s charging process can be very damaging to the battery, resulting in a shorter battery life.<\/p>\n

3. It is extremely dangerous to charge your smartphone while listening to music on an earphone. Lots of radiation from something like that could be bad for your brain. However, there is always the risk of being electrocuted.<\/p>\n

Similarly, if your charging plug is faulty, using your headphones while they are plugged in to charge could be dangerous. Many lives have been lost due to this, so it\u2019s crucial to prevent it at all costs.<\/p>\n

4. You shouldn\u2019t charge your phone with low currents, power banks, or laptops because doing so can damage the device and expose you to electrical shock. These are designed only for use in an emergency and should not be relied upon as a primary or even secondary source of power when charging a mobile device. You should use a high-voltage power source to charge your phone, as this will result in a full charge more quickly and a longer battery life. For this reason, some batteries don\u2019t hold a charge when charged in laptops or fake chargers. This is because your phone won\u2019t charge as quickly using those methods as it would using regular electricity. On the contrary, it will have a negative effect on your phone\u2019s battery life.<\/p>\n

5. Never constantly charge a battery; instead, let it drop to about half of its capacity before recharging. Recharging batteries too often and for no reason reduces their useful life. However, you should take care not to discharge it completely.<\/p>\n

6. It\u2019s suggested that you try charging your phone without the protective case on. The battery\u2019s temperature will rise slightly over time, but the case may prevent excess heat from escaping. To avoid scratches, it\u2019s best to turn the phone over and rest it on a soft cloth.<\/p>\n

7. Many people keep their phones under the pillow so that they can easily access them during the night, but doing so while the phone is charging can cause it to overheat and damage the cable. It\u2019s extremely dangerous when they do things like leaving it under the pillow while it\u2019s charging. Phones produce heat during charging, which must be dissipated to prevent damage and premature battery drain. Putting a mobile device under a pillow prevents it from cooling off and causes it to overheat.
