{"id":23367,"date":"2023-03-01T14:45:11","date_gmt":"2023-03-01T14:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/01\/t-bills-oversubscribed-by-75\/"},"modified":"2023-03-01T14:45:11","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T14:45:11","slug":"t-bills-oversubscribed-by-75","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/01\/t-bills-oversubscribed-by-75\/","title":{"rendered":"T-Bills Oversubscribed By 75% &#8211;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Government Treasury bills sale were oversubscribed by 75 per cent to the tune of GH\u00a25.06 billion, auction result published by the Bank of Ghana has indicated.<\/p>\n<p>According to the result, participation of the 91-day T-bill was almost to the tune of GH\u00a23 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the 91-day and the 364-day bills recorded immense investor participation.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst the 3-months received bids of about GH\u00a22.93 billion, that of the one-year bill got bids worth about GH\u00a21.46 billion. All the bids were, however, accepted by the government.<\/p>\n<p>For the 182-day bill, all the bids of about GH\u00a2665 million were accepted.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, interest rates retreated further for the third week running.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst the yield on the 91-day T-bill went down marginally by 0.12 per cent to 35.54 per cent, the six months bill also fell by 0.16 per cent to 35.84 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The interest rate on the 364-day bill also stood at 34.12 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The government will raise \u00a22.78 billion from Treasury bills this week to refinance maturing bills worth \u00a22.55 billion.<\/p>\n<p>This will be issued via the 91-day, 182-day and 364-day T bills.<\/p>\n<p>In recent times, the government has been borrowing heavily on the treasury market to refinance maturing debts and also build buffers amid the Central Bank zero financing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Jamila Akweley Okertchiri<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- AI CONTENT END 2 -->\n\t<\/div>\n<p><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 Government Treasury bills sale were oversubscribed by 75 per cent to the tune of GH\u00a25.06 billion, auction result published by the Bank of Ghana has indicated.
