Elsie noted how ladies and women get shamed for late marriages and late child birth.<\/p>\n<p>The newly divorcee revealed that marriage isn\u2019t easy as it requires hardwork, despite it being beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s only in this part of this world that people make a big fuss about a woman not being married at a certain age.<\/p>\n<p>U hear questions like \u2018Aunty why are you not married?\u2019 Is she going to marry herself, Elsie queried.<\/p>\n<p>She added that, \u201cPeople even go as far as suggesting for one to give birth.<\/p>\n<p>When a woman isn\u2019t married is because she is taking time or hasn\u2019t found the right one\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Touching on marriage, she said, \u201cMarriage can be tough as beautiful as it can be. It requires hardwork\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kemifilani.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Stop-marriage-shaming-women-Basketmouth-tells-Nigerians-Kemi-Filani-blog.mp4\"\/><\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"h-basketmouth-announces-separation-from-wife\">Basketmouth announces separation from wife<\/h2>\n<p>Just few days back, Basketmouth broke the internet when he announced the end of his marriage with his beautiful wife, Elsie.<\/p>\n<p>The father of four made the announcement via his verified Instagram page on Thursday, December 22, where he assured to peacefully co-parent with his wife in taking care of their children.<\/p>\n<p>The actor who didn\u2019t give reasons for the divorce pleased with the public to respect their privacy.<\/p>\n<p>The sad news had left many in disbelief as they noted how the comedian was fond of making expensive jokes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter much deliberations, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance and support they need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate through these times. Thank you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h2>Basketmouth and wife, Elsie Okpocha speak on their marriage in old video<\/h2>\n<p>Following the separation, Nigerians had dug up old video of the couple affirming their stance against divorce.<\/p>\n<p>An old video of Basketmouth and Elsie kicking against divorce in an interview with, Wedding Channel Africa, has resurfaced online.
