{"id":23252,"date":"2023-03-01T10:00:35","date_gmt":"2023-03-01T10:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/01\/add-your-words-of-support-at-imf-for-us-akufo-addo-to-diplomats\/"},"modified":"2023-03-01T10:00:35","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T10:00:35","slug":"add-your-words-of-support-at-imf-for-us-akufo-addo-to-diplomats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/03\/01\/add-your-words-of-support-at-imf-for-us-akufo-addo-to-diplomats\/","title":{"rendered":"Add your words of support at IMF for us &#8211; Akufo-Addo to diplomats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\"  alt=\"\" title=\"IMF Kristalina Akufo-Addo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMF-Kristalina-Akufo-Addo.jpg\" data- class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image lazyload\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMF-Kristalina-Akufo-Addo.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"IMF Kristalina Akufo-Addo\"\/><\/noscript><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">IMF&#8217;s Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva met President Akufo-Addo in the Netherlands in 2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on Ghana\u2019s allies to weigh in with words of support at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the $3 billion extended credit facility (ECF) being sought by the country to be approved.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ghana has already reached a staff level agreement (SLA) with the Fund but appro is yet to be given by the Executive Board of the Fund.<\/p>\n<p>The President expressed hope that the appro will come by the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p>President Akufo-Addo expressed this hope while addressing members of the diplomatic corps at the 2023 Presentation of Diplomatic Greetings at Peduase Lodge in the Eastern Region on Tuesday, February 28.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that already Ghana has had the tacit support of the so-called Paris Club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust as we manged to achieve a staff level agreement with the Fund in record time in December last year whose terms were systematically fulfilling including the difficult but ultimately highly successful process of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme, I am confident that with the cooperation we have received from the members of the Paris Club and the People\u2019s Republic of China, which had sent a delegation from China\u2019s EXIM Bank to Accra over the weekend to meet with officials of the Ministry of Finance, we shall be able to go to the Board of the Fund to conclude finally the agreement by the end of March,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will set the stage for the strong recovery of Ghana\u2019s economy.
