Euphoria<\/em>\u00a0features a talented cast of young rising stars, but the reality is Zendaya, who plays the notoriously unreliable narrator Rue Bennett, is the sun in the\u00a0Euphoria<\/em>\u00a0universe, and as such, new reports indicate she\u2019s being paid accordingly for the new season.<\/p>\n
In a reader mailbag column for his Hollywood-centric newsletter,\u00a0Puck\u2019s Matthew Belloni reported\u00a0on some of the most staggering TV salaries, including this gem: Zendaya\u2014who has won the Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy for both seasons of\u00a0Euphoria\u2014 \u201cjust closed a big re-negotiation\u201d that puts her per episode salary in the\u00a0Friends\u00a0neighbourhood of $1 million per episode.<\/p>\n
Zendaya became an executive producer on the show for its second season, making her the\u00a0youngest person\u00a0ever to receive an Emmy nomination for producing at the age of 25, which\u00a0followed a historic win\u00a0in 2020 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.<\/p>\nMichael Buckner for Variety<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Despite frequently mixed reactions to the series, the quality of her acting has been a point of consensus among fans and critics.<\/p>\n
The payment of\u00a0Euphoria\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0stars has been oft-discussed, especially\u00a0since a 2022\u00a0Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u00a0profile\u00a0where Sydney Sweeney said, \u201cThey don\u2019t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals. The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 per cent to my lawyer, 10 per cent to my agents, 3 per cent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that\u2019s more than my mortgage.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n
Belloni also listed a handful of other A-listers with seven-figure television salaries, including Michael Keaton on\u00a0Dopesick,<\/em>\u00a0Jason Sudeikis on\u00a0Ted Lasso,\u00a0and Elisabeth Moss on\u00a0Shining Girls,\u00a0while positing that the highest-paid TV actor right now is John Krasinski on\u00a0Jack Ryan.<\/em>\u00a0(Krasinski\u2019s alleged $2 million per episode also factors in his executive producer role, and Belloni does write that figuring out these salaries \u201cis an inexact science.\u201d)<\/p>\n
Obviously, Zendaya\u2019s salary is so high because of both her Emmy wins, as well as her thriving career outside of\u00a0Euphoria.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Euphoria<\/em>\u00a0has been one of HBO\u2019s biggest hits, and it\u2019s unlikely the series will end with its third season. In a\u00a0Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u00a0interview, Zendaya said she hopes the show will explore the lives of its core characters after they graduate and move into college and\/or young adulthood.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019ll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school. I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look. But also with all the characters, in the sense where they\u2019re trying to figure out what to do with their lives when high school is over and what kind of people they want to be,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
