The couple was arrested over an accusation of bringing a man from Nigeria to have his kidney removed in the UK. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking in court today, the alleged victim told the court that while he was in Lagos, he was offered an opportunity to travel to London by Ekweremadu\u2019s \u2018fixer\u2019, Dr. Obeta who allegedly told him not tell anyone about it. He added that he wasn\u2019t aware of the purpose of the travel until he got to the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first day that he (Dr Obeta) called me, we only discussed about work. He asked me not to tell people that I am travelling to London\u201d \u2013the victim told the jury.<\/p>\n<p>Upon getting to the United Kingdom, the victim claimed that he was controlled and told to lie about having family connection with the Ekweremadu\u2019s before having consultation at the Royal Free Hospital, north London in February 2022.<\/p>\n<p>He said he couldn\u2019t hold back his tears the moment he was told by a Doctor why he was brought to the United Kingdom. He said he was shocked and he told the Doctor that he wasn\u2019t aware of the kidney transplant.<\/p>\n<p>After telling the Doctors, he said they decided not to go ahead with the surgery owing to the fact that it was not consented and he was young.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, noted that two doctors came to examine him at Dr Obeta\u2019s house where he was being treated like a houseboy. He said he eventually ran out of the house and started sleeping on the streets for two days.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/207a8daed05f4ec2af7bde633c4feaf3\"\/><\/p>\n<p>He said he was left with no choice than to go to a police station when the cold became unbearable for him.
