Whitney allegedly slumped during a sporting event on the school premises on Thursday, February 9, 2023. The school management has released a statement exonerating themselves of any responsibility for Whitney’s death, stating that the girl had complained of being sick the previous month and was taken home by her father.

The school emphasized that Whitney slumped in public view and that they took advantage of proximity by identifying the nearest medical facility to take her to for treatment. However, the father of Whitney Adediran, Dr. Michael Adediran, is demanding a probe into his daughter’s death, stating that she was healthy when she left for school that day and that the school was not equipped with proper medical personnel or equipment at the time of the event.

The management of Chrisland Schools has expressed its condolences to Whitney’s family and emphasized its commitment to supporting them at this difficult time. The school also noted that it had immediately notified regulatory stakeholders and agencies to allow for a comprehensive euation and assessment of the circumstances surrounding Whitney’s death.

The management stated that it had stopped short of making any media sensation out of Whitney’s death out of respect for the privacy of her family and the memory of the young girl. The school is now awaiting the outcome of an independent post-mortem process.

Dr. Adediran, in a message shared on social media, expressed his deep pain and sorrow over the loss of his daughter and his frustration with the school’s inability to provide any answers about what happened to his daughter. He stated that he gave the school a healthy child and was shocked to receive a dead child in return. He also criticized the school for holding a sporting event without proper medical equipment or personnel.

The death of Whitney Adediran has raised serious questions about the safety and well-being of children in schools.
