{"id":135739,"date":"2023-12-30T15:05:10","date_gmt":"2023-12-30T15:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/30\/difficult-inaccessible-terrain-delayed-troops-response-dhq\/"},"modified":"2023-12-30T15:05:10","modified_gmt":"2023-12-30T15:05:10","slug":"difficult-inaccessible-terrain-delayed-troops-response-dhq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/30\/difficult-inaccessible-terrain-delayed-troops-response-dhq\/","title":{"rendered":"Difficult, Inaccessible Terrain Delayed Troops Response \u2014 DHQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-904990\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Screenshot_20231230-081228_Opera-Mini.jpg\" alt=\"Edward Buba, Plateau Massacre: Difficult, Inaccessible Terrain Delayed Troops Response \u2014 DHQ\" width=\"1080\" height=\"757\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), on Friday, detailed that the attack on some villages in Plateau State on Christmas Eve was carried out before troops timely arrived the location.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, however said the intervention of the troops in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas (LGA) forced some of the militants to withdraw after wreaking havoc on the defenceless villagers.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that attacks on Christmas Eve by gunmen in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs\u00a0led to the death of over 110 persons.<\/p>\n<p>However, Buba said the militants unleashed mayhem on the villagers before the troop\u2019s intervention.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO: Police Explain Reason For Delayed Report On Mohbad\u2019s Death Probe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Buba said, \u201cSadly, events turned gloomy with the attack on Bokkos LGA and some part of Barkin Ladi LGA on Dec. 23.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt should be noted that Bokkos and Barkin Ladi LGAs span about 2,315 Square kilometres with over 350 villages, mostly dispersed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe distance between some of these villages and troops\u2019 locations is over 90 kilometres and sometimes difficult to access because of the rugged terrain which is mostly inaccessible to vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThus, affecting the reaction time to incidents, except when there is credible intelligence before the attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe militants unleashed mayhem on the villagers before the arrival of troops to the location.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div data-advadstrackid=\"890536\" data-advadstrackbid=\"1\" class=\"infor-target\" id=\"infor-492421428\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/300x250b.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), on Friday, detailed that the attack on some villages in Plateau State on Christmas Eve was carried out before troops timely arrived the location.
