{"id":135731,"date":"2023-12-30T14:32:43","date_gmt":"2023-12-30T14:32:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/30\/govt-refutes-mahamas-wassce-collusion-claim\/"},"modified":"2023-12-30T14:32:43","modified_gmt":"2023-12-30T14:32:43","slug":"govt-refutes-mahamas-wassce-collusion-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/30\/govt-refutes-mahamas-wassce-collusion-claim\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t Refutes Mahama&#8217;s WASSCE Collusion Claim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has expressed deep disappointment with former President John Dramani Mahama\u2019s recent comments belittling the success of the Free SHS programme, describing them as \u201cwoefully disheartening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the Christmas festivities in Akim Anyinase in the Akyem Mansa District, Minister Oppong Nkrumah criticized Mahama for attempting to undermine the achievements of SHS graduates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is disheartening to observe how former President Mahama will go all lengths to belittle the Free SHS program and its results simply because it didn\u2019t emanate from him,\u201d stated Mr Oppong Nkrumah.<\/p>\n<p>The recently released 2023 WASSCE results, considered the best since 2015, have been attributed to the positive impact of the Free SHS policy.<\/p>\n<p>However, former President Mahama, during his country tour, discredited the outcome of the examination, pointing to alleged malpractices and students colluding with teachers to cheat.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to Mr. Mahama\u2019s claims, the Ofoase Ayirebi legislator found his allegations of malpractices and cheating \u201cshocking and disappointing,\u201d emphasizing that such remarks disregard the hard work and accomplishments of the students who benefited from the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile he may not like the entire SHS program, he shouldn\u2019t try so hard to denigrate the beneficiaries.
