{"id":135530,"date":"2023-12-29T12:54:50","date_gmt":"2023-12-29T12:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/29\/we-conveyed-63000-passengers-in-two-days-nrc\/"},"modified":"2023-12-29T12:54:50","modified_gmt":"2023-12-29T12:54:50","slug":"we-conveyed-63000-passengers-in-two-days-nrc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/29\/we-conveyed-63000-passengers-in-two-days-nrc\/","title":{"rendered":"We Conveyed 63,000 Passengers In Two Days \u2013 NRC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-857910\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Kaduna-Abuja-train.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), on Thursday, disclosed that over 63,000 passengers benefited from the free train rides offered by the Federal Government during the yuletide period.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the free train service was declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, covering all passenger services operated by the NRC and complimented by a 50% discount on inter-state transportation.<\/p>\n<p>Fidet Okhiria, the Managing Director (MD) of NRC, revealed that the 63,000 passengers were transported between December 24 and 26.<\/p>\n<p>The NRC MD who spoke with journalists in Lagos stated that the Federal Government had under-written all the costs involved in offering the free train service across the system.<\/p>\n<p>He commended the Federal Government for providing all the necessary support to achieve the feat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO: Yuletide Season: Tinubu Approves 50% Reduction In Transport Fares Nationwide<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The MD also advised passengers to obtain their tickets via the website as tickets are not available at the various stations.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, e-ticketing \u201cis to enable us to gather appropriate information to profile people travelling on our trains.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also stated that railway workers had been mobilised nationwide to ensure that the directive of the President was fully enforced.<\/p>\n<p>Okhiria further decried the seemingly unending vandalisation of tracks across the railway corridors, saying, \u201cOver 50,000 clips were vandalised on the Lagos-Ibadan rail line; same for the Kaduna-Abuja track.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Having commenced the free train service on its entire passengers\u2019 services from Thursday, December 21, 2023, the service would end by Thursday, January 4, 2024.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div data-advadstrackid=\"890536\" data-advadstrackbid=\"1\" class=\"infor-target\" id=\"infor-1706704320\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/300x250b.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), on Thursday, disclosed that over 63,000 passengers benefited from the free train rides offered by the Federal Government during the yuletide period.
