{"id":133611,"date":"2023-12-21T09:25:08","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T09:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/21\/fubara-committed-to-peace-agreement-didnt-sign-under-pressure-commissioner\/"},"modified":"2023-12-21T09:25:08","modified_gmt":"2023-12-21T09:25:08","slug":"fubara-committed-to-peace-agreement-didnt-sign-under-pressure-commissioner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/21\/fubara-committed-to-peace-agreement-didnt-sign-under-pressure-commissioner\/","title":{"rendered":"Fubara Committed To Peace Agreement, Didn&#8217;t Sign Under Pressure \u2013 Commissioner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-903975\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/images-2023-11-02T015545.735-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"710\" height=\"400\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Joe Johnson, Rivers State Commissioner for Information, says his principal, Governor Siminalayi Fubara did not sign a peace agreement with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, under force but of his own will.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Channels Television\u2019s programme on Wednesday, Johnson disclosed this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in that meeting and the governor did not negotiate from the place of weakness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no pressure from anywhere; when people disagree, they come to the round table and settle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is nothing to doubt it (the agreement), we have gone beyond the issue as to who signed, and who didn\u2019t sign,\u201d Johnson added when asked whether the Governor signed the peace agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had on Monday met with Fubara and Wike at the Aso Villa in Abuja to find lasting solution to the protracted political impasse in Rivers.<\/p>\n<p>After Monday\u2019s meeting, the President directed that the warring parties withdraw all matters instituted in the courts by Fubara, and his team, and that the leadership of Martin Amaewhule in the Rivers State House of Assembly be recognised, and not that of Edison Ehie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO: Rivers Resolution: \u2018I\u2019d Continue To Pay The Price For Peace To Reign\u2019 \u2014 Fubara Insists<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Amaewhule and his 26 allies were also said to have been reinstated in the House following the presidential directive.<\/p>\n<p>Also, nine commissioners who resigned from Fubara\u2019s cabinet would be reinstated, according to the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>On whether or not Fubara signed the document or not, the Commissioner noted that no price is too high for peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Bible that we all profess says we should pursue peace will all men at all cost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Governor is a stickler for the rules, and if His Excellency, the President has intervened, he (Fubara) is not a man of perfidy. He will not say something and do the other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the next couple of hours, I will be unveiling some of the approvals His Excellency has already given as an indication that he is prepared for peace.
